FAITH5

WHY DO FAITH5?

This is a simple tool every household can use every night. You could do this with your friend from church, grandkids in another state or the people you consider family. Every age and stage of life can do FAITH5 together each night as a way to grow deeper in their own discipleship. You will also get to know God’s Word in a new way and create lasting faith connections with the people you care most about.

Here is an example from the scripture passage …from St. Paul’s 1st Letter to the Thessalonians (3:12)

“And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, just as we abound in love for you!”

  • After you share your highs and lows of the day, read the passage out loud. Read it together.
  • After you read, talk about the passage connecting your highs and lows. What kind of increase in love have you seen/experienced?  What kind of increase in love do you need?  Like St. Paul, who do you know in your life who needs an increase of love?  Who can you thank for showing love to you, especially when you needed it?
  • When finished talking, take time to pray for each other and those who need an increase in love…
  • Faith5 ends with everyone being blessed. (see below for ways to do that— hugs, kisses, smiles, etc are appropriate!)

Blessings

One way to give a blessing is using your thumb to make the sign of the cross on the other person’s forehead. This is a reminder of our baptism and as Martin Luther discovered we know that “we belong to Jesus forever.”

Some words of blessing you could say:

– Jesus loves you!

– You are a child of God!

– Go make disciples of all nations!

– You belong to Jesus forever!
